Selena Gomez Stars In "Another Cinderella Story" - Review And Movie Trailer

Saturday, August 30, 2008
Poor Selena Gomez. One minute she is accused of a nasty, bitter feud with Miley Cyrus, and the next minute she tells the world the two young pop stars are best friends forever.

Her wholesome image has been tarnished with leaked internet photos, and she is accused of being positioned as the next Hanna Montana. That's a lot of pressure for a young actress and singer.

But now Gomez has the opportunity to show audiences that she can carry a full-length feature film in the romantic musical comedy "Another Cinderella Story", an original musical dance comedy based on the Cinderella fable and directed by Damon Santostefano.

As you can imagine, the story is a familiar one, but with a twist. An ultra modern setting for "Another Cinderella Story" finds Selena Gomez in the modern teen world of cell phones and pop music. Instead of loosing her slipper at the ball, she looses her Zune music player, her mother goes "clubbing" with Paris Hilton, and pop music and dance routines showcase the actress and the movie's characters.

It is the story of young love, and how far one will go to fit in.

Plot: A young man (Andrew Seeley) who dances with what could be the girl of his dreams (Selena Gomez) at a costume ball, only has one hint at her identity: the Zune she left behind as she rushed home in order to make her curfew. And with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in front of him, he sets out to find his masked beauty.

Kids will love this movie - adults, not so much. It lacks the glitz of "Ironman" or "Indiana Jones", and is clearly a vehicle to show off the young talents of Selena Gomez. The film is a mindless romantic comedy, with a lot of singing and dancing, and a harmless way to spend an afternoon.

Selena Gomez can currently be seen starring as Alex Russo on the family comedy television series "Wizards Of Waverly Place", a story that centers on a family in New York City that owns a restaurant where, behind the scenes, the kids can do real magic.

Gomez has also appeared in three episodes of "Hanna Montana", voiced the character of Helga in "Horton Hears A Who" starring Jim Carrey, and will appear as herself in the "Jonas Brothers: Living The Dream" concert series documentary.

The next big television project for Gomez is the family comedy "Princess Protection Program", due in January and starring Demi Lovato. The film focuses on a tiny country that is invaded by a dictator, and the young Princess (Demi Lovato) who is taken into custody by the Princess Protection Program.
